CompEx Certified Ex14 Responsible Person
Course Contents:
- Review of explosion principles, gas properties and hazards (EXF concepts)
- Standards, certification, and marking per IEC 60079-series of standards
- Protection Concepts and installation techniques for Ex d, Ex e, Ex n, Ex i, Ex o, Ex m, Ex q, and Ex p equipment
- Combined (Hybrid) types of protection
- Wiring systems, enclosure entries, and cable gland selection & installation to IEC 60079-14
- Inspection and maintenance of equipment to IEC 60079-14 and 60079-17 standards
- Sources of ignition
- Hands-on assessment of installation and inspection -Ex d, Ex e
Agenda :
- Understanding of the general principles of explosion protection
- Understanding of the general principles of types of protection and marking
- understanding of those aspects of equipment design which affect protection concept
- Understanding of content of certificates and relevant parts of IEC/EN 60079-14
- General understanding of inspection and maintenance requirements of IEC/EN 60079-17
- Familiarity with the particular techniques to be employed in the selection and erection of equipment referred to in IEC/EN 60079-14
- Understanding of the additional importance of permit to work systems and safe isolation in relation to explosion protection
- Practical skills necessary for the preparation and installation of relevant concepts of protection (hands on training)
Pre-requisites
Delegates should be able to make off steel wire armoured cable glands when attending modules EX01/2/3/4/5/6 as well as being able to carry out electrical testing for Continuity, Insulation Resistance and Polarity. Candidates wishing to attend CompEx Ex01-Ex04 should have a working background as electrician, electronic technician or instrument technician. An electrical installation background is helpful but not essential.
Assessment
CompEx assessments consist of practical and theoretical elements. Practical competency will be assessed on a unit based assessment/exam. Theoretical competency will be assessed via an online multiple choice exam
Accreditation
Qualified electricians will receive a JTL CompEx Certificate of Core Competency upon satisfactory achievement of the unit assessment.
Other personnel will receive a JTL CompEx Certificate of Core Competency, but NOT as an electrical craftsperson.
The CompEx Certificate will be valid for 5 years.
